Saturday sky...Sunday pie!!

Okay so I made it on Saturday but we sure are enjoying these pies.

last weekend I went apple picking...and bought a 1/2 bushel.
I'm soo. glad I didn't buy more.

we've been eating the apples, I've made 2 batches of applesauce (canned some) 2 pies, some apple butter and I still have 1/3 bushel left.
I was looking at the harlot's blog the other day and she had a link to someone she calls "the oracle".
I read his blog and he had an apple cranberry pie recipe with more recipe's in the comments, so I tried them out.

my first pies!!



the first is a Dutch apple pie with a coconut crumble topping.
the second is his cranberry apple pie--which I love but everyone else seems to think has "too much cran".
I bought crusts (hubby only asked me to make the pie at 8:45pm and could not DREAM of making home made crusts that late).
they turned out quite well--but the top crust of the cran/apple pie split and fell apart.

still--they are sooooooo good.

look at that yummy, runny, goey pie-goodness.
wow, pretty good for a first attempt i think.

anybody else have good apple recipies??

my yarn is still soaking in the vinegar water from Friday--I can't wait to paint it!

we are off to a chili cook-off fundraiser this afternoon.
